Find Thoughtful Entertainment Through Unique Films in Kanopy

Are you looking for an entertainment experience beyond Netflix? New Castle-Henry County Public Library resident card holders can access more than 30,000 films through Kanopy. Kanopy is an on-demand film streaming service for quality, thoughtful entertainment.

While similar to Hoopla, Kanopy is solely composed of video content. It is app-based and can be streamed on computers, smart televisions, and mobile devices. The Kanopy app is available for iOS, Android, Apple TV, Fire TV, Android TV, Chromecast, or Roku.

Kanopy provides access to popular movies, Indie films, classic movies, award-winning documentaries, and more. Kanopy is simultaneous, which means the same title can be borrowed by multiple users at the same time.

In addition to the movies and documentaries available, Kanopy also offers access to educational content from “The Great Courses.” Learn how to play guitar, practice photography, and much more through courses available on Kanopy.

Library card holders begin each month with 10 play credits. Every video checked out will use 1 play credit. Once a video begins, and that play credit has been used, there will be 3 days to view it as many times as desired. At the beginning of the next month, play credits will reset. The Great Courses and Kanopy Kids do not require play credits to view.

One unique aspect of Kanopy is the programming available through Kanopy Kids. Kanopy Kids is a collection of movies and shows. This includes several PBS shows, story times, and educational programs for kids. New Castle-Henry County Public Library offers unlimited access in Kanopy Kids.

New Castle-Henry County Public Library director, Winnie Logan, finds Kanopy to be a great resource. “If you have a smart tv, you can stream it right to your tv. You don’t have to watch on a small screen. It’s just like renting a movie, and you can watch interesting, unique films that you might not find in other places.”
