Beyond Books: New Castle-Henry County Public Library Offers ‘Library of Things’

The New Castle-Henry County Public Library is rolling out a new collection for patrons to borrow. The library is broadening its selection far past books, movies, and music. The “Library of Things” will offer a variety of items that can be used to assist in many situations.

For those performing home projects, there is a stud finder, moving dolly, and energy meter. Items for curious minds include a metal detector, telescope, and mini projector. There are also museum passes for Minnetrista, Eiteljorg, and the Indiana Historical Society available for use.

“We try to get items that are fun to use or items that you need every once in a while, but don’t want to buy,” Leann Wilson, Circulation Supervisor, explained. “We are always open to ideas from the community on things they would like to see available.”

The display across from the main circulation desk will show the items available to check out. Patrons can search the New Castle-Henry County Public Library’s catalog under “Library of Things” to place holds on items. These items will be restricted to those over the age of 18 and can only be borrowed for a week at a time.

For more information about these new items, please reach out to the main circulation desk at info@nchcpl.org.
