Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs

Jacob stops believing his grandpa's stories of growing up in a strange orphan home after Jacob gets bullied at school. They say his stories are for babies. But his grandpa claims he tried to escape the monsters in Europe to live in a home for "peculiar" children on a faraway island, and that all the children there held a bizarre special quality--invisibility, levitation, human beehive, and much more--and he has pictures to prove it.
Now a teenager, Jacob worries about his grandpa and his beliefs. The pictures are eerie--but are they fake, and what are these monsters? Is his grandpa suffering from dementia, or should he believe his grandpa's increasing fear?
When Jacob gets a panicked call and witnesses something absolutely terrifying, he knows he must seek out this strange home and find out what really happened.
