Bringing the Library Home
Making a trip to the library is something not everyone can do. When it's not possible to go to the library, invite the library to come to you. New Castle-Henry County Public Library's Outreach Services provides on-location library services to the homebound, senior citizens, day cares, retirement communities, and families with disabled individuals.
Program Services
Outreach services also provides programming such as story times for children, reading and sharing for the older set, and topic-centered programs for assisted living communities.
From Your Outreach Services Department...
I can't believe we are almost into the third month of the New Year...where did 2011 go? As we entered into 2012, the Outreach Services Department started changing. Our supervisor for 20 years retired and our assistant moved to another department, but we are very blessed to have Emily Pratt as our new supervisor and Brenda Carpenter as our new assistant. They bring with them much enthusiasm and spunk! Just what an old gal like me needs. We are happy to have both of them in our department.
2011 was filled with adventure for me. I was blessed to take a trip to Europe. My little brother is stationed in Germany so I went over to spend some time with him and my sister-in-law. What an amazing time it was! Many of you have talked about WWII and what all went on...I actually saw where it took place. Oh my, to see the remnants of what used to be and to stand where some of our soldiers fought for our freedom was indescribable. We visited the WWII Museum and saw the things that were left behind when the war was over, and then we took a trip to the U.S. cemetery and the German cemetery...all i can say is wow! I was so glad when you all let me share this incredible once in a lifetime trip with you.
So far 2012 has been weather-friendly to us, and i have not had to cancel any programs because of that. I am looking forward to sharing memories, laughs, and maybe even a few tears with you again this year.

Collection Services

The library has an extensive collection of large print books that are available for request as well.
